I've been playing with some things on the test realm, and I am not liking what I am seeing.
First off, gear is going to have to change from what I am seeing. I will have to run numbers come final patch and see how things do, but right from what I am seeing, gear needs to focus a lot more on Int and Spi. Yeah, yeah, it should have been all along, but I will take my +heal to my grave!
First thing, groups makeup and communication needs to change. The +heal buff from tree is not huge (at least with my measly Spirit, even with the 5% talent) but every little bit is helpful for healers. This means that AoE heals won't be as useful though. Compromise there I think.
I managed to get a spec I was not at all happy with putting 50 points into resto. Workable, but sac'd some things.

Unforutunately, there just was not any room for subtlety. That throws this out the window for 5-mans. Not unusable, but riskier. I also could not fit Nature's focus, so don't plan on solo-ing either. This is purely a level 60 raid spec.
Natural Shapeshifter was moved into Resto, and is important if you plan to use HT and still be a happy tree. Mana was the biggest problem I had, throwing HoTs around, and losing big chunks to cast HT just can't happen.
Again, I'm going to have to look at a lot more int gear.
The rest is pretty straight forward. I may remove the 3 points from Natural Perfection. 3% crit is not that big a deal in healing (hopefully we aren't relying on crits), just something I thought would be nice. The ability to see spell crit on you character sheet (without addons) post-patch is a nice thing too. The three points would most likely go into subtlety.
I am going to play around with the talent calculator a bit more, but I don't think I will wait an hour and a half through the test realm queue in the next few days. Time for some theorycraft on my part. |

THIS POST IS FOR ME
Largely stream-of-thought, cleaned up a bit
if you are going for a pure tree build, you can drop down a lot of points that only help HT...

10 points to play around with in other things if you care to. But seeing as we are healers anyway, we might as well spec into as much as we can. There is definitely room here to put all 51 points in.
modify the above spec throwing a 5th point into subltety, and add empowering touch. tranquil spirit if you are worried about mana, which we are... 2 points left, not sure where to put them. Not a very good spec though, haphazard all over the place...
In other thoughts, having the new empower talents may make up for the +heal drop I forsee gearing into higher mana pools and/or spi.
Hmm, enough at a spi gear look and we can sac some int because of the mana regen.
If Spirit/5 + 15 = manaper tick...
Erm, probly not. 15 mana per one point of int, a bit of regen won't make up for that. Not a huge number, but better then stacking on the spirit.[/b] |

I might spec to see what the treants actually do once, but unless they are awesome incarnate I'll probably drop them. Didn't put my last 10 points in there yet, obviously. |
